Weekend Recovery

Jessica was really tired today with a sore throat. She made it out of bed to grab breakfast and for a couple of trips to the bathroom. Otherwise, her meals have been brought up to her and she's stayed in bed all day, obviously missing both of her classes. She went back to sleep this morning and slept till 1:00, and was tired this afternoon and wanted to sleep more but couldn't. Matthew and I have been camped out in her room with her keeping her company tonight. As she perked up some, she wanted to play Playstation with him but "didn't want to move" so he brought the console in her room, and they're playing from the comfort of her bed now.

Evidently the weekend (slumber party) was too much, but she said it was worth it. There are some that believe she needs to prioritize and not do as much, so that she wouldn't have missed a day of school. Knowing that she doesn't get much "fun" time, I believe the occasional fun times, even if it's a little too much, are ok. Aren't they?

We got her lab work in the mail today, and I'll save my thoughts on that until after tomorrow's doctor's (telephone) appointment.

I'm sorry to hear that she's had a bad day. It's so hard, but I agree with you. Those fun times can't be taken every week obviously, but they are important.

I'm with you. Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and live a little! She'll bounce back -- but the memory of that weekend will stay with her forever. You don't want CFS to rob her of all the fun of being a teenager.

So glad Jessica had such a fun time with her friends...being a teenager! I identified with when she wanted to help you with brk and then go to Walmart too...it is like once I get started on having a good gtime it is hard to stop from adreneline surges or the sheer joy of feeling a bit normal...and then all of a sudden I realize I have pushed to hard. I am still learning to rest ahead of something and then just limit the fun time and resting before I crash. And I am 60!!!! Sometimes it is worth the crash though....like Shelli said.

Yes, yes! There has to be some room for fun in the life of a kid (or anyone) with CFS. School is important but so are friendships and LIFE! Kids with CFS have lost so much - they absolutely need to just let go and be normal kids once in awhile. I'm glad she had such a good time, even though she's paying the price now. The crash will soon pass...

Thanks everyone for all the comments. I agree that the fun times are important!

Renee, I did wonder about her wanting to help me make breakfast and when she wanted to get out of the house to go to Wal-Mart with me... but I guess it's good for her to feel normal while she can too. And then again, sometimes it doesn't matter, and we have to let go and enjoy. It's all part of the learning process.

And the crash did pass, and wasn't around too long either.
